Employment Interview

Please list position(s) for which you are applying:

I am applying for the open psychologist position.

Please explain why you are applying for the position(s):

The majority of my career has been spent with children and adolescents in a more clinical setting. I would like a change and the atmosphere at Highgrove, with patients living in this unique home-like setting, is intriguing. Considering so many of the children recommended to Highgrove either lacked completely or had a highly dysfunctional family of origin, teaching them to function within a 'family' setting with psychological intervention available around the clock is laudable.

Why do you feel you would be the best candidate for the position(s)?:

As stated above I have spent my career working with children and adolescents who have a myriad of psychological, emotional, mental and behavioral problems. I know how they behave when angry, scared, or confronted with truths they do not receive favourably, and I can do it all with calm and a professional grace that can only be achieved with decades of experience. I know this phase of human development exceedingly well; I have dedicated my career to it.

Do you posses the necessary qualifications for the position(s) for which you are applying? If yes, please list them below:

Yes, I received my undergraduate and psychiatric credentials at the University of Bristol. My attached resume offers more information.

What other qualifications or skills do you possess which you feel will aid your performance in the chosen position(s)?:

I utilalise elements of experimental psychology along with behaviorism in therapy with my patients. Contrary to the popular mythology, it is not all pavlovian responses and skinner boxes, it is the applied focus on teaching (young) people the direct cause and effect relationship between their actions and behaviours and outcomes both favorable and unpleasant, then equipping them with the necessary skills to function with social success.

Have you worked in this type of position or facility before? If so, where and when?:

Yes, I have worked at private facility for children and adolescents in the Ukraine for nearly two decades with young people whose needs range from complex to severe.

Please describe your most recent employment experiences, including your positions there, company names, and locations:

I have worked for a privately funded Children's Psychiatric Facility in Kirovograd, Ukraine I have also visited other facilities throughout my career, namely in Louisiana and Phan Rang, Vietnam.

How do you think your previous education and employment experiences will aid your performance within the chosen position(s)?:

My time in Kirovograd has given me a wealth of experience to draw from when I work with young patients at Highgrove, I am not learning or honing my craft, I am already an experienced professional.

Psychological Evaluation

Please describe yourself to the best of your ability, in only five words. ('And' will not count towards these.):

Patient, Perceptive, Rational, Unbowed and Tenacious.

What methods would you employ in order to relax during times of stress, and how effective do you think these have been in the past?:

I am a kinesthetic-tactile person; I need to touch something to help work through challenges. As such I am very partial to tinker toys and origami. I find them deeply relaxing and meditative. They have always been effective for me. When I need to relax without trying to achieve anything in particular, reading, a hot cup of tea, and music work well.

Please list three traits about yourself that you consider negative, and three traits about yourself that you consider positive. Explain these choices if necessary:

To borrow a few of the five words from above for the positive, I am exceedingly patient. I will wait as long as it takes to achieve my goal, change a mind, or open one to new perceptions. I am also a rational person, that does not mean I lack imagination or the ability to see things outside the mundane, but a flight of fancy must always come to an end. And I believe I am quite perceptive; I do not jump to conclusions, I do not make grand leaps of faith, I listen, observe, and let the pieces fall into place, or give them a small nudge in the proper direction.

Moving on the negative traits, I can be very blunt, which can be make me appear standoffish when I simply see no point in dancing around issues that can be handled quickly with straightforwardness and grace. I have been described by patients who don't care for me as a tyrant, I prefer the term unyielding. I am not so flexible as a willow but not as stiff as an oak. I think my last negative trait would be my dislike for unmet expectations, or untapped potential, it frustrates me. But the position of these traits as negative is relative just as the positive ones; it all depends on the situation.

Describe one event in your life that you would change if you could, and why:

I would have been more cautious as a young professional.

If a superior gave you a task to complete, to which you were wholly, morally opposed, what would you do?:

I wouldn't do it, I would accept that it would likely cost my position if said superior were unwilling to come to a mutually beneficial agreement, but it would be an acceptable causality. Furthermore I would wonder what this superior hoped to gain by trying to force my hand to do something I was stalwartly opposed to, against other tasks I would perform without resistance.

If you caught a friend and co-worker stealing from your place of employment, breaking rules, and/or endangering the safety of others, what would you do?:

There is no question of what I would do; I would immediately go to a superior and report them. There is no room for that sort of thoughtless, dangerous behaviour in a facility such as this.

Environmental Screening

Where did you grow up, and what was it like there?:

I was born and lived in Vienna with my mother, Lena, when I was four my mother died and I was sent to my father to live with his wife and my older half siblings in Kiev. There was an adjustment period but my memories of my childhood, family, and school days are fond.

What are/were your social interactions like? Do/did you have many friends and/or relationships?:

I like to think of myself as highly socially capable, my interactions with others are are mostly positive. My friends are normally colleagues wherever I am working. I have had relationships in the past, but none currently. I never married and make no plans to do so.

What prompted you to pursue the career path you are now following?:

My favourite question as a child was "Why"... there are very few adult careers in which that question is so highly valued. Psychology is one of the last great whys for humanity.

Were you ever a member of the armed forces or of a law enforcement or security agency? If yes, please list rank and branch, or company name and location:

No, I have not.

Do/Did you ever abuse controlled substances, including but not limited to alcohol, prescription medications, street drugs and tobacco?:

No, I have not.

Have you ever been convicted of a crime? If yes, please list conviction(s) and served sentence(s) below:

No, I have not.

Out Of Character Section

Is there anything your character isn't telling us? Do you have more information to add about your character that they would not tell the representative about? Please explain below:

What Dr. Zvarich has failed to disclose is her own involvement and employment with Crane Pharmaceutics as one of many promising young professionals folded into their ranks after obtaining her undergraduate education, and the languages she speaks: English, Ukrainian, and Russian being the primary trio.

Another thing Nadyia has not disclosed is her own 'continued struggle' with pika, which manifest in a tendency to eat paper or chew on writing instruments when working, it is a very discreet activity that she does not indulge in public. In addition, She has left quite a few holes in her childhood, one of which being her older half sister's Yulianna's penchant for scaring Nadiya as a child, more elaborately than ghost stories and monsters in the dark, and why she and her siblings are only half blood.

What Nadiya alluded to in her answer to the questions about events that could be changed was an incident before she started working for Crane. She was an intern at a psychiatric facility for troubled youth where she had to give a patient an unfavourable progress report his response the was take her head in his hands and bang it violently against a wall multiple times. She suffered a moderate concussion, skull fracture, and near-total memory loss of the event. She does not remember the incident but she does remember the morning leading up to the session and the aftermath of the assault in a hospital that night, she has a very faint scar on the back of her head where where it was fractured.
