Medical Screening

Do you have any ongoing medical conditions for which you require long-term treatment or medications?

I'm not nutso if that's what you're askin.

Are you aware of any allergies you may have to foods, medications or environmental elements? If so, please list them below along with age of onset.

Strawberries.

And?

Juliette shifts.

That moldy stuff.

She means penecillin.

Didn't ask your opinion, Old Man.

Juliette shifts, a little snarl and a raise of her right lips slightly

Do you take any other medications or drugs not prescribed to you, or participate in the consumption of alcohol or tobacco?

Juliette looks confused. Blue eyes shift to those of the doctor beside her.

[color=Blue]Juliette's foster mother believed that she had on occassion taken some alcohol into her system but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Environmental Screening

Where were you born and where did you grow up? What was it like there?

I was born at home. With me Da!

Her voice is loud. Demanding. She leaps out of her chair. Leaning over the desk to stare into the eyes of the interviewer. She hisses.

Juliette! Sit down now! Go on. Siiiiit. In your chair. Like a good girl.

Juliette moves slowly. Eyes never leaving the interviewer. As she shifts herself back into her chair and lowers herself down to sitting.

As you can see Juliette didn't grow up as most normal children would have. She was a prisoner in her own home as a child. Her mother was lost to them at Juliette's birth and as you can imagine it affected her father a great deal. He locked Juliette away. Keeping her in her room all the time.

Protection! Juliette screams

She is constantly under the delusion that he did this to protect her. He was constantly showing her how terrible the world arond them was. Having her watch horrible TV drama that he told her was real. R rated movies about torture and the like. He never let her step foot out of that room. She never went to school. We aren't sure when she learned to speak but when we pulled her out of the house when she was eight she barely knew a hundred words. It's been a process. She isn't dumb. But she is certainly not normal. Her language is under developed and her vocabulary is that of a grade schooler for the most part because she was never given that opportunity to learn like other children.

I want Da!

Juliette seems to believe her father did it all because the world is a horrible place. She too has a bit of agoraphobia because of this, she does not like wide open spaces and is quite afraid of going outside. We often sedate her. Like to come here. She was taken from her father's house at eight years old.

LIARS!!!! Juliette screams from her chair

Some neighbors finally figured out that there was a little girl in the house. They realized they had never seen her go out, or go to school or anything. Juliette had a window in her room. So, they could see her through it. They knew she never left. She was feral. Unkempt. And it only took a few phone calls to get CPS involved. They seized her immediatly. She had to be sedated to get her out of her room much less her house. Her father was incarcerated.

After that we tried a normal home. With a foster family that could cater to special needs. Juliette had no real disabilities, none that she was born with. But those that were bred into her because of her environment. She couldn't speak well. She was feral. She ran around sometimes like an animal. Hated baths and showers. Never wanted to brush her hair. Didn't know how to use silverware. Things like this. The family was willing to try. But they had three other special needs children and the fit, as you can imagine was less than superb.

We sent her to a Home later. A place for lost causes. Afterall, no one was willing to take in a child that could be happy as a dog all day. She would hide under tables and bark and growl at anyone that came close. People weren't able to deal with that. Unable to reach a child. So we sent her to the home. There was another girl there, Maura. Maura and Juliette befriended each other. Maura suffered from severe delusions and Juliette seemed to be able to feed into them.

Please describe your relationships with your biological family, including parents, and siblings if applicable.

DA! My DA!

As far as we know, there was only Juliette's father. We tried to find extended family when she was seized but we could find none. Considering his wife's death she has no siblings.

How were/are you in school? How are your grades? Do you enjoy school?

NO school! Juliette shakes head severely so that her blond hair slaps around her

Juliette and school do not work well. That is why we hope she can try to fit in here. As you can imagine, having Juliette in a class of normal students with her differences causes quite a distrubance. They tried to even put her in special needs programs but she was unable to sit still and concentrate. She can read, barely. On a second grade level. She's had tutors, but it isn't easy. The formitive years, were wasted on her, and now it's trying to teach an adult a new language.

Do you participate in any extracurricular activities or belong to any after-school clubs?

Surprisingly, Juliette can draw. She's very gifted at it. But no, she was never in any after school activities or anything. With her fear of being outside, accompanied with the fact that she isn't like most normal children, she is incapable of being part of a team.

If you no longer reside with your biological family, please describe any previous homes as well as your current situation.

After she was taken from the home of her father she was placed in a small foster home. The foster mother was named Velia and she and her husband Jon were kind people. They mostly took the special needs children and we thought initially it would be the best place for Juliette considering her adversity to a large crowd and her quiet but feral nature.

It didn't work there. At all.

She was at the Oxford Home for Troubled Children. She did okay there. Under constant supervision. In a dorm with another girl that had her own issues. Neither of them were allowed any kind of implements and she began to at least realize that life wasn't this amazingly scarey beast. She's by no means normal. But, she at least seemed to be half way surviving there. But we think this school will really help. We want her with her peers. People that are around her age, in the same boat she is in. We think it will help pull her out of her shell a little bit, not to mention allow her to become someone that she would be proud of.

Do you have many/any friends? If so, please describe them.

MAURA!! I want my MAURA! She is mine! MY Maura!

Yes yes, child. We know. Maura, her room mate at Oxford is her only friend. We know that with Maura's disabilities and issues she could not be a student here. We have tried to explain this to her.

Are you sexually active? Are you aware of any gender preference, or preferences in intimate practices, activities or situations?

Sex?! What sex?! I want sex?

Calm down child. No. We believe she has not been sexually active.

Have you ever knowingly committed a crime? Were you caught and convicted? If convicted, what was your sentencing?

No, she has not been shown to have a penchant for such things.

Clinical Screening

Have you ever been diagnosed with any psychiatric ailments by a medical or psychiatric professional? If yes, please explain below.

We have worked extensively with Juliette Anders. Through all the tests and merely evaluating her we have done our best to decide what exactly she suffers from. We believe that she suffers from Agoraphobia mainly. Some would label her as Stockholm Syndrome but since that was her home and not a kidnapping effort, we believe it doesn't really do justice.

Please describe any incidents associated with these ailments, such as antisocial behaviours, social or environmental difficulties, incidents of self harming, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, substance abuse, etc.

Juliette Meows.

Maily, Juliette does not fit in easily. She wants to. She admires people bigger than her, but she is afraid. She sees herself as a child, other times as an animal, and often times acts as both. Other times she's very serious until she speaks and you realize that she doesn't have the eloquence someone of her age should have. Nor the vocabulary or the ease at using words in general. Until you realize that she likes to eat with her hands and will drink juice out of a bowl.

She doesn't fit in easily. But mainly it's her animalistic nature that seems to keep most people away. When she gets angry she can get feral. Try to attack someone with her finger nails. Things like that. Other times she's very withdrawn and seems to feel out of place anywhere. She constantly shifts.

Have you ever seen a licensed psychiatric professional, psychologist, or counsellor for these ailments? If yes, please list doctor(s) or counsellor(s) below:

My name is Doctor Harvard VonClef and I have about 22 years of experience.

We worked closesy with a group of other doctors including:
Miranda Tocks a doctor with 10 years experience
Doctor Olivia Gross with 5 years
And a Child Psycologist named Bernard Nigel

Do you take any medications for any diagnosed psychiatric ailments? If yes, please list medication, dosage, and frequency of dosage below:

No we don't give her any medications, as it doesn't really seem to do anything for her. Anxiety or otherwise.

Have you ever been admitted to a short or long-term psychiatric facility as a result of these ailments or associated incidents?

No, we didn't want to put her in that kind of environment when she was released from her father's care. After the foster home failure, we preferred a home for children with various issues with a full nursing staff and so forth because it is important to socialize her.

How do you feel these ailments affect your quality of life or your situation in life?

I think with her lack of social skills she sinks more and more into herself. We've tried quite a bit to pull her back out of herself. She feels very nervous in large groups and tends to hang out at the very edge hoping not to be noticed. There are times that she still doesn't understand social norms.

As with her animalistic nature, often times, she is just not fit for anywhere. But we think that here, she would be more understood and be able to try to have some sort of friendship or relationship with other people. That is our goal.

If you could be cured of your ailments, what would your goals in life be?

She's mentioned that she would like to become an artist. Maybe open her own studio or something. She likes to do her drawings and she is really talented. That would be a fantastic thing. But she would also like to have a family again. Sometimes, she really seems to miss having a family. She talks about her father a lot.

How do you feel these goals would be best attained?

I think that what she really needs is friends. People that she can begin to trust in, and to be forced to do group activities and to be part of a school like program such as this. I think she would be able to flourish and become something even better. We believe that Juliette is a very smart girl and given the chance to live a fairly normal life and cut off from Scotland, we believe it will be a fresh start for the young girl.

Edinburgh was filled with too many memories of her father. She might not have left the house when she lived there, but she knew where it was and often visited. When ever she ran away they would always find her on the front porch of that house. I think being here in England will really allow her to start over. And hopefully open up.

Why do you feel you are being referred to Highgrove, and by whom?

I am referring Juliette Anders here because I believe it is an environment in which she will thrive. I also think, that being in this kind of school will allow her to do things, experience things, safely, that she could not otherwise. It will also give her a chance to see how others act.

The Spoken, Representative Interview

Hello, and thank you for meeting with me today. Our interview today will be recorded for review later. I'm going to ask you a series of questions, and I'd like for you to answer as fully as you are able. I'd like to start by asking you how you're feeling today.

I want to go home.

Juliette, is that really how you're feeling today?

Juliette nods

How else? Tell the nice doctor what else.

Hungry. I need the bathroom too.

Okay. And how are you feeling about this opportunity to join our family at Highgrove?

School sucks!

I want home.

I want my Da.

Doctor says school is good for me. I want to be a good girl.

If you could alter one event in your life, what event do you think you would change or remove, and why?

Alter?

He means change. What would you change if you could Juliette. In your life?

I want to be like other people. Like people like me.

If you had to describe yourself in only three words, what words would you choose and why?

Hungry! Girl! Juliette! Pretty! Mean! Sometimes...

How do you feel currently about your life so far, and anything you may have done?

I'm a big girl now. Pretty big girl. I want to be artist. Draw for people. Open shop for people to see my things. I miss Da though. I want Da back. I want school. Friends though. I want many things. My Da was okay. He protected me.

What would you do if you found a stranger being attacked by another stranger, and why?

I would attack! Take them out! No hurt people! It's not nice! Unless they hurt you. Then you hurt back.

*Juliette nods*

What would you do if you were being threatened by a stranger, and why?

Fight back! No one hurt me!

Have you ever deliberately harmed yourself, another, or animals in the past? If so, why do you think that was?

No! I want a dog. Can I have a dog here?

No Juliette, no pets allowed.

Juliette sulksOh.

And lastly, what do you hope to find at Highgrove, and how do you think this will help you to learn and grow?

I want to have a friend. Can I have a friend? Are they assigned? At the old Home you had a buddy. I didn't like my buddy much, but then my room mate she was really nice. We were friends. But now they took us away, and I don't have a friend anymore. I want another one. I think it would be a good thing.

This concludes our interview for today. Thank you for filling out our application and speaking with me. We will contact you or your guardian shortly with our decision or recommendations. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your day. Goodbye.

But don't fret! Just follow the steps given to you below and edit your application appropriately. When you're done, please reply to this thread to let us know that the application has been edited, and we will review it again.

  • Okay, this one could get a little complex as there's a lot of stuff to get through that will, unfortunately, need tweaking at the moment. Stick with us here and we'll try and get you sorted ASAP.
  • The first, most pressing point we have is that we regrettably actually have a hold on characters who display deliberate self harm, sexual masochism, and major depressive disorder, so any way you tried to work it, we simply wouldn't be able to take a character who cuts her self for any reason. It's up to you if you want to reevaluate this character still, but if you do, the self harming is going to have to go, I'm afraid. Sorry about that. Perhaps you might condiser some other sort of coping mechanism for her.
  • The next point concerns her other diagnoses. I actually don't see any C-PTSD on the application or in her character. She also lacks the diagnostic criteria for it. Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is caused by having control and freedom which you already possessed taken away from you, resulting in feelings of being trapped and not able to escape, etc. Since Juliette was raised this way, she would be unlikely to develop this disorder, simply because she wouldn't know any different, and would assume that this life was normal. I also think this would probably rule out Stockholm Syndrome too, which is typically displayed by people who have been abducted from their regular life, not by people who wouldn't know any other life.
  • On the same subject as diagnoses, I think you could probably very easily just change the C-PTSD to Agoraphobia (a fear of being outdoors or in large spaces) since she shows more signs of this than of C-PTSD.
  • Children who are raised alone, with little or no socialisation are -to put it frankly- severely messed up. They miss the absolutely necessary mile markers in basic, normal human development. Since Juliette was locked up from birth and only spoke to her father when he came to tell her how bad the world is, it is very likely that she would develop a speech impediment at the very least, if not even just resulting to a feral form of behaviour. Without learning social norms which teach us how to respond to other humans wants and subtle cues, she would basically almost be like an animal. There is a lot of research available on this sort of a case on the internet. If that's the route you want to go, you will need to read about that sort of thing. If it is not the route you would like to go, then we suggest tweaking her back story some to make it not so severe.
  • This point is a quick note: We feel the picture of her play-by may be too old to pass for a sixteen year old girl. We suggest either choosing a new play-by, or using a younger and less made-up portrait so that she looks young enough. Also, we ask that you fix the spoken section of the application, where the questions have gotten broken up into separated lines.
  • You will need to address the above points before we can really come back and review the rest of the application. Because she will require such an issues overhaul, it would be silly for us to continue with any other pend points at this time, as they will likely change anyway. Good luck, and happy hunting!

  • First of all, I'm sorry about the delay in getting back to you about this. With the event, it got a little lost.
  • Right now, Juliette belongs in a proper institution. She's incapable of functioning in a regular environment, in order to make it to Highrove, she'll need to be somewhere between where she is now and functioning normally. They aren't equipped to handle someone like her who's going to require the level of psychiatric care and treatment her current state demands. She'll need to be toned down to the point where she can function in society, more or less.
  • On a similar note, from reading her app, I'd say she has reactive attachment disorder. Unfortunately, this isn't something we're accepting. I'd suggest that while you're toning her down, you build up the delusional disorder and the agoraphobia instead, and if you're going for a feral child angle, I'd suggest some more reading on the topic. It's a tough one to do well.
  • In the OOC section, it mentions that she talks to her father still. If this is a hallucination, it'll need to be removed, if it's not, it'll need elaborating on.
  • Lastly, only the Psychological Evaluation section is spoken. You've got the first two sections filled out as if they're spoken too, rather than written. That'll need to be changed.
