I love teaching, but it was getting a little vanilla in the places I've worked in the past. I want to challenge myself to teach in new situations with different kinds of students. Helping kids along the way is an added bonus.

Why do you feel you would be the best candidate for the position(s)?:

I feel that my approach to teaching, which hasn't been so compatable with more traditional schools, might be useful in the environment that you offer. I like to treat each student as an individual instead of treating the class as a unified whole who all have the same mind. I don't like to assign a lot of homework, and I give few exams. I prefer to spend more time helping children learn than forcing them to memorize their notes.

I have my bachelor's degree in education.

I can speak fluent Spanish and semi-fluent French, and I took a few psychology classes in college.

I haven't worked in a facility of this type, but I do currently work tutoring my friend's son, who is mildly autistic.

Please describe your most recent employment experiences, including your positions there, company names, and locations:

After I graduated from university, I spent my internship at a small state high school called Helen Kingsley in Bath. After I spent the necessary time there, I got a job teaching English at a public school called St. Augustine Academy. I worked there for three years before I was fired because of what I like to think of as creative differences; the school board didn't like the topic of one of my assignments. After that, I decided it was time for a change and moved to Cambridge, where a friend employs me as a tutor for her son.

How do you think your previous education and employment experiences will aid your performance within the chosen position(s)?:

My education prepared me for my field effectively, but I've learned more from putting it into practice. In my previous teaching positions, I have learned what works for me as a teacher and what doesn't, and I've become comfortable around all types of kids. Recently, I've learned how to handle a difficult child without becoming frustrated.

What methods would you employ in order to relax during times of stress, and how effective do you think these have been in the past?:

To relax, I usually read and listen to music. Nothing calms me down like a book.

I consider my ability to adapt, my positivity and my creativity positive traits. On the negative side, I tend to be a bit stubborn, a bit controlling and can hold a grudge, though of course I would never hold anything against a child.

Describe one event in your life that you would change if you could, and why:

I would change my high school years and relive them somewhere else. I was lonely and depressed throughout, and had no-one in my small town to turn to. I even contemplated suicide a few times.

If a superior gave you a task to complete, to which you were wholly, morally opposed, what would you do?:

I would be obediant up to a point; for example, I would refuse to hurt someone. But most tasks that would be asked of me I feel I would be able to complete.

If you caught a friend and co-worker stealing from your place of employment, breaking rules, and/or endangering the safety of others, what would you do?:

I would turn them in to the proper authority as soon as possible. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.


Where did you grow up, and what was it like there?:

I grew up in Olney, which was a bit small for my tastes. My parents were simple people who made a simple life for themselves there, but it wasn't for me, and I wasn't for the people there, either. By the time I was fourteen I had a reputation in the town for being a bit of a weirdo; none of the kids my age liked me, and even the adults were rude to me. This lasted for my entire high school life; I was miserable. My parents were baffled by me. They sent me to our priest for weekly "therapy" sessions, which actually consisted of me sitting in front of a desk and watching Father Michael pray the rosary. When I graduated I moved to Bath and never looked back.

What are/were your social interactions like? Do/did you have many friends and/or relationships?:

I didn't have any friends as a teenager, but now I have a ring of close friends. My relationships are few and far between, and are never serious.

What prompted you to pursue the career path you are now following?:

I wanted to educate people because I thought that I could help others transcend the ignorance that I experienced as a child. I'm finding it very rewarding thus far.

Victoria has been honest about most everything; she has no reason to lie or omit information. The only thing thing that she's left off was that she was a bit of a pothead in high school, and she feels bad about not putting it down.
